The School of Visual & Built Environments seek aPart -Time Lecturer in the Fashion Marketing Innovation (FMI) program.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
Teaching may include a number of particular obligations which employees are expected to fulfill, including but not limited to: meeting with students during and outside of assigned classes, assessing student work and performance, preparing syllabi and course materials, providing copies of syllabi and course materials to their supervisor on request, and assigning and submitting grades in accordance with established Eastern Michigan University schedules.
Perform related departmental duties as required.
The position requires a minimum of a Master's degree in Textiles, Fashion, Marketing, and/or Merchandising or closely related areas. Applicants should have industrial experience in these areas or a related field as it relates to:
Cultural Study of Dress
Flat pattern, product development methods
Gerber CAD pattern design systems
Sewing methods and assembly
Merchandise planning, control and profitability
Buying / Retail Math
Supply chain management
Visual display / virtual shopping
Knowledge of programs such as: InDesign, Photoshop and Visual Retailing Mockshop and Gerber Technology software is preferred.
Creative, analytical, and hands on training skills are essential for this role. Industry experience and industrial contacts are vital to success in this position. Therefore, priority will be given to candidates with industry experience as a buyer or related area and/or relevant teaching experience.
