Towson University Athletics is seeking applications for an Athletics Marketing Intern. This position will assist in oversight of all elements of the marketing & game day experience department including game operations, game presentation, graphic designs, communications and student marketing; lead marketing initiatives for select sports; assist with the management of student interns; oversee Doc the Tiger appearances, hiring, and staffing events.
The Athletics Marketing Intern will assist the Assistant Athletic Director of Game Day Experience with marketing and game presentation for ticketed sports: Football, Volleyball, Men's Basketball, Women's Basketball, Gymnastics, Men's Lacrosse, and Women’s Lacrosse; with special emphasis on Volleyball, Women's Basketball, and Women's Lacrosse. Direct game presentation by producing game scripts, managing music playlists, scheduling national anthem performers & game entertainment and overseeing game day activations for assigned sports. Assists with additional events on and off campus including, but not limited to, tabling at the Student Union and community appearances. Assists with oversight and management of interns and volunteer staff. Develops themes, promotions and giveaways for assigned sports to enhance game atmosphere. Manages Doc the Tiger; including oversight of scheduling, communication, hiring and training of all mascots. Other duties assigned by Assistant AD, Game Day Experience.
Bachelor's degree with one year related work experience. Excellent organizational, problem-solving and communication skills. Ability to design marketing material utilizing Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite. Must be assertive, hard-working and a creative thinker. The selected candidate must have an understanding of digital marketing tools. A valid driver’s license and vehicle is required.
Experience in marketing and game presentation.
Internship experience within the sports industry.
Desire to learn college athletics.
Experience in Daktronics V-7000 and V-8000 and Adobe Photoshop.
A Criminal Background Investigation is required for the hired candidate and the results may impact employment.
Salary and Benefits
$10.10/hour and a contract that offers annual leave, holidays, sick days. Contractual employees scheduled to work 30 or more hours per week may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage. To learn more about our benefits, click here.
