About the Opportunity: Reporting to the Director of Marketing and Communications - with a dotted line to the Dean - the Marketing Communications Manager fosters a positive brand image of Northeastern University's College of Social Sciences and Humanities (CSSH) via digital and print communications, public relations, and marketing to undergraduate students.
Responsibilities: As part of this mission, the Manager will:
Manage and maintain various communications platforms to amplify information and news to prospective students, current students, faculty, alumni, parents, and donors.
Promote the placement of the college's news and accomplishments in media outlets within and beyond the university.
Serve as the college communications and media point person to university offices, including External Affairs, Enrollment Management, Student Affairs, and Alumni Relations, as well as to the departments, programs, and centers within the college. Work closely with staff in the School of Criminology and Criminal Justice and the School of Public Policy and Urban Affairs.
Collaborate with the Dean's Office staff to develop comprehensive messaging strategies designed to improve yield and retention of undergraduate students.
Work with external vendors and freelancers to ensure successful and timely completion of projects.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree required, Master's preferred. Degree in Marketing, Communications, English, or Public Relations preferred. Four to six years of experience in marketing communications including exceptional writing, editing, and content development skills. Preferred: graphic design and photography skills, as well as proficiency in design software applications and web-based technologies
Independent self-starter able to cut through ambiguity and lead projects with minimal direction
Ability to effectively manage several projects simultaneously and adapt to changing priorities
Strategic thinker with strong organizational skills
Proven ability to interact professionally and diplomatically with many constituencies with a strong customer-service focus Experience working in higher education preferred.
Salary Grade: 11
