Minimum Starting Biweekly Pay: $2,065.60

Manage event presentation development and execution for all UAA athletics contests, with a special emphasis on directing the game presentation for ice hockey, men's and women's basketball, women's volleyball, and women's gymnastics. Generate and implement strategies to create a game atmosphere that ensures remarkable experiences for all fans. Plan and execute Game Day scripting, marketing, and promotional operations utilizing public address, in-arena video board, and in-arena music to ensure sponsorship activation, promotions, giveaways, in-game features and brand integration.
Coordinate and record the community engagement efforts of athletic teams and individuals on campus and throughout Anchorage with the goal of establishing positive and effective relationships with UAA's various constituencies, particularly youth. Effectively promote athletics contests and events on campus. Organize and coordinate campus marketing initiatives targeted to faculty, staff, and the student body, particularly student life, student clubs and Greek life, to maximize support.
Coordinate and execute marketing plans and initiatives for all sports to increase awareness, attendance, and revenue. Create and develop promotional plans and giveaway strategies for all sports to maximize ticket sales, attendance, the the overall fan experience. Assist media relations with the department's social media strategies and efforts to include posts to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, among others.
Lead to Head Coach - Cheerleading position and all cheer functions. Assemble and oversee part time volunteers or interns as marketing and promotions specialists to assist in execution of the Game Day fan experience. Oversee/supervise student section and associated social media efforts.
Establish positive relationships with coaches, athletic staff, video production, facilities and event management, ticketing, marketing, sponsorships, media relations, on-campus student groups/leaders and community non-profit/youth groups to ensure a creative and collaborative team environment.
Perform other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor, Associate Directors and/or the Director of Athletics.
Required: Knowledge and proficiency in computer operations such as internet research, web-based programs, video editing software, word processing, spreadsheet, and database. Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills. Ability to manage multiple projects independently and meet deadlines. Ability to follow applicable policies, rules, regulations and ethical practices. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals and groups and to work successfully as a member of a team. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Knowledge of marketing and promotions best practices. Knowledge of techniques and industry standards relevant to this position. Working knowledge of in-arena video boards, including the creation and production of content and working closely with video production. Creative and innovative thinker with the ability to entertain all ages. Excellent in concept generation, development, and execution. Strong leadership skills. Strong writing skills with the ability to create game and event scripts. Self-starter with examples of excellent follow through. Proficient in MS Office. Familiarity with Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Adobe Creative Suite. Ability to work evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays.
Preferred: Demonstrate a dedication to intercollegiate athletics and an intuitive sense of trends in the marketplace. Displaying the highest personal integrity and ethics. Exhibiting strong interpersonal skills with a high level of energy, charisma, enthusiasm, and creativity. Bringing expertise to the organization and best practices to event presentation. An efficient manager capable of fostering a teamwork environment and delivering against strategic objectives. General knowledge of applicable National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) rules.
Three years of relevant experience with live event presentation, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Typical Education or Training:
Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Journalism, Communications or related field, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act) certification or certification completion within 30 days of the job start date. Applicant must possess an unrestricted Alaska driver's license (and CDL with endorsements as required) or be able to obtain an unrestricted Alaska driver's license within 60 days of accepting the job. In addition, the applicant must meet UAA's safe driving criteria.
