The Office of Communications and Marketing is dedicated toadvancing the university's reputation. Staff members support the institution'smission and goals, promote its successes and achievements, inform and engageits stakeholders, and ensure the integrity of its brand. We craftaudience-focused communications based on data, best-practices, and emergingtrends. The division employs more than 50 full-time professionals acrossseveral cross-functional teams--Creative, Digital, Marketing, News, SpecialEvents, Video, and WUOT 91.9FM.
The Assistant Director of Marketing serves as an integralmember of the Office of Communications and Marketing's leadership team. Theassistant director leads marketing and promotion activities that advance thereputation of the university and supervises a team of project managers andmarketing professionals.
Develops marketing goals to support theuniversity's goals related to student enrollment, faculty and staffrecruitment, advancement, research, and reputation-building; and establishesand executes strategies to help the university meet those goals.
Works closely with colleagues in the Office ofCommunications and Marketing and across campus to align marketing objectives,recommend appropriate strategies for achieving those objectives, and ensurebrand consistency in the execution of efforts.
In collaboration with divisional leadership andcampus partners, oversees the university's brand message strategy and leads thedevelopment and execution of content strategies.
Oversees the creation, development, andproduction of promotional and advertising efforts.
Oversees audience research and data-gatheringefforts that inform continual improvement of existing marketing strategies anddevelopment of new efforts.
Conducts qualitative and quantitative researchthat measure brand awareness, audience sentiment, and the outcomes of overallstrategies and specific tactics.
Collects, analyzes, and summarizes industrytrends to help colleagues make data-informed communication decisions.
Serves as a resource for the universitycommunity for issues regarding marketing, advertising, promotions, andmessaging to ensure consistency of communication and marketing strategies.
Manages a team of project managers and marketingprofessionals.
