JOBDESCRIPTION The Center forProfitable Agriculture is a department within the University of TennesseeExtension and a partnership with the Tennessee Farm Bureau Federation. TheCenter staff work to help farmers analyze and develop value-added agricultureenterprises. To achieve this mission, the Marketing Specialist will: · Develop astatewide Extension educational program based on marketing fundamentals insupport of value-added agriculture enterprise development. · Plan, develop,implement, evaluate and report value-added educational programs with a focus onthe marketing needs of clientele. · Provideleadership for market analysis and development in various value-addedagriculture program and project areas. · Provideleadership in the development of Extension educational programs and participatein educational programs in various functions such as planning team member,coordinator, speaker, moderator, etc. · Provide trainingin value-added enterprise development for Extension agents and ExtensionSpecialists. · Secure externalfunding for programs through grants, contracts, gifts and/or fees. · Evaluate andreport inputs, outcomes, impacts and accomplishments. · Provideleadership for a program of activities that meets the needs of all eligibleclientele regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, age, disability,religion or veteran status.
RESPONSIBILITIES · Develop effective teaching tools suchas publications, fact sheets, presentations, worksheets, web-based tools andother creative tools to enhance the delivery and understanding of informationon value-added marketing and market development. · Conduct market analysis, developmarketing plans, assist in development of marketing materials and evaluatemarketing strategies for value-added agriculture product ideas and enterprisessubmitted to the Center by farmers and agri-entrepreneurs. · Work closely with other members of theCenter as well as program partners in the Tennessee Department of Agricultureand the Tennessee Farm Bureau Federation. · Contribute to and build partnershipsinside and outside the department and organization. · Support, strengthen and participate incounty-based Extension programs. · Participate in professionaldevelopment opportunities.
