Illinois State University, a member of the Missouri Valley Conference and Missouri Valley Football Conference, is seeking a qualified candidate for the 12 month, full-time position of Assistant Director of Marketing. This position reports to the Assistant Athletics Director/Marketing. The Assistant Director of Marketing, in collaboration with the Director of Marketing/Fan Experience, will work under broad policy guidance and exercise sound judgment when making critical decisions under varying degrees of pressure. This position will serve the Athletic Department and the community on a day to day basis in addition to serving all marketing related needs of his/her assigned sports. This individual will need to work cohesively with coaches and other internal staff groups regularly to achieve objectives. This position will also be the point of contact behind all community related events from beginning to end. This position will be responsible for the exclusive Reggie's Kids Club program and will serve as the liaison for the mascot and community partnership events. This individual will also serve as a functioning member of the creative unit.
Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Sports Management, Recreation Management, or Communications; two (2) years’ experience in a liaison role in an Athletics department (Graduate Assistant positions qualify); ability to communicate effectively with coaches, media and athletics staff; availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays; working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign).
Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree; experience with forms of new media including, but not limited to: website, social media, video and mobile; ability to work in a fast paced environment requiring critical thinking, multitasking, organization skills and the ability to meet short deadlines.
