As a senior-level administrator within the School of Global and International Studies (SGIS), the Director of Marketing and Communications manages and implements marketing, branding, and publicity activities for the SGIS. Ensures that all activities in support of the SGIS strategic plan are presented effectively and successfully to all audiences and constituencies in order to fortify the SGIS brand, supports its mission, engages faculty and staff, and aligns with the university's branding strategy and guidelines.
Develops and manages all-encompassing communications and branding initiatives with strong core messages and consistent visual identities; Oversees or participates in the writing and editing of all communications materials for SGIS; Oversees media relations for SGIS, in coordination with university communications, creates and maintains a network that will consider SGIS faculty as a resource for their reporting and raises the profile of the school on a national and global level; Bears responsibility for overall management (in collaboration with the Deans and SGIS Director of Administration) of SGIS’s comprehensive marketing, branding, publicity, and communications strategy.
REQUIRED: Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field and five years of experience and demonstrated success in marketing, communications, publicity, or other related field.
A successful candidate will have a superior understanding of marketing, branding, and communications trends; Strong skills in utilizing marketing and communications analytics; demonstrated experience in strategic planning, and marketing design and implementation are also key to success in this position. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Creative, analytical, and comfortable working in a fast-paced and rapidly growing environment, collaborating with a broadly diverse base of colleagues, coworkers, and stakeholders. Working knowledge and practical abilities in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Creative Suite.
Masters degree or higher in Marketing, Communications, or other related field; five years of experience and demonstrated success in marketing, communications, publicity, or other related field, experience in a field related to international affairs or foreign policy.
Working Conditions/Physical Demands:
The ability to work seated at a desk for up to eight hours a day with regular breaks is required for this position. This position relies on the use of computer software applications for the completion of assigned duties, creating the potential for visual and wrist/arm strain generally associated with this desktop computer use. Deep concentration associated with high-level organization and scheduling will be required of the employee. This position has some physical demands that may require infrequent lifting and carrying of up to 30 pounds over short distances.
Some evening and weekend work and the possibility of occasional domestic travel are to be expected in this position.
