Lead marketing research and strategy for University Relations. Reports to Associate Vice President, University Communications and Marketing.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop annual/ongoing marketing strategies and plans in partnership with university units that advance university priorities.
Develop project plans, coordinate client/team meetings, develop and manage action plan and meet with a creative team to determine and initiate resulting projects.
Lead marketing strategy and planning efforts to elevate Kent State through targeted storytelling, engagement and high impact experiences. Coordinate with other colleges, campuses, departments and academic programs as needed.
Develop and integrate unit strategies with Kent State's university-wide marketing strategic plan.
Serve as project lead and primary liaison with clients and communications team.
Identify opportunities for multi-unit and/or multi-campus/system-wide marketing and collaboration.
Identify opportunities and initiate marketing research efforts that provide market intelligence that contribute to the enhancement of the Kent State brand and strategic objectives.
Manage marketing research projects needed for strategy development, program development and/or address market issues and institutional opportunities.
Coordinate internal and external resources to maximize research capacity and quality.
Work collaboratively with outside partners on marketing strategies and projects.
Evaluate the effectiveness of marketing initiatives to determine how well they met objectives; provide reports to leadership and make recommendations to improve effectiveness results.
May supervise students or unclassified staff including hiring, training and evaluating performance and oversee outsourced work.
Assist in budget planning related to marketing funding requirements.
Represent Kent State at business and social functions, as well as special events related to clients.
Perform related duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree in marketing or relevant field. Minimum of five years of progressively responsible marketing experience in an organization of comparable size and complexity.
License/Certification: Not applicable.
Master's degree in relevant field. Prefer experience in consulting and client relations, developing marketing strategies and integrated marketing plans, and the utilization of different types of media.
