JOB SUMMARY: Nichols College has an immediate opening for Assistant Sports Information Director and Director of Marketing & Sponsorships. This position is charged with assisting the Sports Information Director with publicizing the College’s 21 sport Division III athletics department, coaches and student-athletes as well as assisting with maintaining all statistical and record information. The Assistant SID is also responsible for game management, promotion of the intercollegiate athletics sports and programs, handling media relations, assisting with maintaining the athletics website and social media outreach.
As Director of Marketing and Sponsorships, this position is responsible for generating revenue in the form of sponsorships with local and regional businesses and coordinating the marketing efforts of the Department of Athletics. The position will also serve as the chief graphic design artist for the department and coordinate game entertainment and fan engagement including overseeing Nichols Nation, Nichols’ mobile phone fan application.
The Assistant Sports Information Director and Director of Marketing & Sponsorships will report directly to both the Sports Information Director (Asst SID) and the Director of Athletics (Marketing). As currently comprised, this position is a full time, 10 month exempt position with full benefits.
There is a possibility that the position may be split into two part-time graduate assistant positions upon review of the candidates. Graduate Assistants are eligible for certain benefits (medical, dental, disability, life insurance), and receive a tuition waiver toward an MBA, MSOL, or MSA degree at Nichols College. Graduate assistants must be accepted into the Nichols College graduate program prior to commencing employment.
Candidates shall have a genuine understanding and commitment to the NCAA DIII philosophy as well as strong leadership and interpersonal skills with an ability to work with all constituencies of the campus.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EDUCATION REQUIRED:
Prior sports information and marketing experience
Graphic design experience
Bachelor’s degree with 1-3 years of experience in a collegiate sports information setting
Genuine understanding and commitment to NCAA Division III intercollegiate athletics philosophy
Computer proficiency/ web site design & maintenance (preferably Sidearm)/ StatCrew/ Adobe Creative Suite/ Photoshop
Strong organizational, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, with attention to detail and able to handle a multi-task work environment
Must be able to work with deadlines
Demonstrated supervisory and management skills
A working knowledge of every sport offered by the College including rules and regulations
CPR/ AED and First Aid certifications
Valid driver’s license
PHYSICAL JOB COMPONENTS:
Able to communicate orally, in writing and use office and telecommunication equipment
Ability to work business and extended hours including evenings and weekends
Traveling to be expected
Minimal lifting required (website suitcase, reams of paper, etc.)
