Full Time 40 hours Grade 054 Ophthalmology Schedule 8 AM-4:30 PM; WKENDS Responsibilities Position Summary: Reporting to the Department Chair and with directions from FEI Marketing Director and considerable latitude for independent judgment. Acts as the Director of Outreach and Business Development for the Flaum Eye Institute (FEI) with the goal of increasing the visibility, growth and profitability of all four missions of FEI â“ clinical care, research, education, and technology transfer. Aligns work with strategic goals outlined by Department Chair, Administrators, and faculty. This position has significant interface with faculty, staff and medical center leadership as well as external resources. Responsibilities Business Development and Outreach Develops and executes outreach strategy to private and URMC network physician offices in order to build and maximize ophthalmic service referrals. Initiates and manages relationships with physician offices and community healthcare systems and entities. Visit physician offices to introduce FEI providers to referring and non-referring practices, communicate changes in services or programs and distribute information packets including newsletters and directories. Focus on physicians and practices which represent a high number of referrals to the system. Manage issues with referring providers relating to patient referrals, provider communications, and urgent appointments. Execute and lead Continuing Medical Education events Manage advertising, marketing, and logistical support for special events and community outreach projects (open houses, patient and/or physician events, health fairs, public lectures, and other community outreach activities), collaborating with URMC physician liaisons or external resources, as necessary. Advancement Actively manages working relationships with the Flaum Eye Institute Advisory Board, focusing on using this resource of talent to raise significant philanthropic support from the community and advance the mission and vision of the Flaum Eye Institute. Effectively manage programmatic fundraising initiatives to build a prospect solicitation pipeline through the âœFriends of the Eye Instituteâ�, âœFEI Grateful Patientâ� and âœOpt-Inâ� processes. Manages and evaluates front end staff responsible for the direct execution of the Opt-In and FOEI processes. Initiates and/or strengthens relationships with key giving prospects and grateful patients. Collaborates with the Director of Advancement to solicit major gifts from key leads identified through the above processes. Plans and executes events, programs and communications that engage and cultivate grateful patients, donors, board members and alumni. Manages active volunteer program comprising grateful patients, board members and community members. Manages FEI patient concierge program. Manages Glover-Crask Eyeglasses for Kids program once monthly providing free vision screenings and glasses to the underserved communities in the region. Serve as Secretary and active member of FEI Lionâ™s Club International- The global leader in community service Manages and leads the University of Rochester, Flaum Eye Institute Alumni Council.Works to build alumni engagement and involvement in key fundraising activities at the Flaum Eye Institute. Plans and executes U of R ophthalmology alumni meetings and annual reception at American Academy of Ophthalmology conference. Supervisory Responsibilities Directly monitors the work of the Outreach Coordinator to ensure accuracy and maximum efficiency. Responsible for recruitment, hiring, performance evaluations, training, and discipline. Manages coordinator to ensure adherence to policies and procedures. Other Accountable for the management and results of internal department committees that address the patient experience, quality improvement, and evolution to a Learning Organization. Co-editor of monthly internal Newsletter- FEI Insight Serve as an active member of URMC and FEI Committees: FEI Learning Organization Committee FEI Marketing and Outreach Committee FEI Advancement Committee FEI Patient and Family Centered Care Committee URMC Guiding Coalition Committee URMC Patient Advisory Council Qualifications Bachelorâ™s degree and one to three yearsâ™ relevant experience in marketing, sales or public relations; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred Experience: Bachelorâ™s degree and three to five yearsâ™ relevant experience in marketing, public relations and development; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
